Support for Title IX Office and Victims of Sexual Assault

Baylor has spent $4.3 million on the Title IX office and other services for sexual assault victims since November 2014, when the University hired its first full-time Title IX Coordinator.

Here is the breakdown of those expenditures and/or allocations:

  • $2.2 million, Title IX office budget. Overall, the Title IX office budget has been increased 250% over the last three budget years.
    • 2014-2015 [spent]: $219,567 (half a year)
    • 2015-2016 [spent]: $804,767
    • 2016-2017 [budgeted]: $1,179,000

      The University expanded its Title IX staff to seven fulltime positions. In addition, Baylor has hired five external professionals and an outside attorney to work directly with the Title IX office.
       
  • Nearly $1 million to renovate, expand the Title IX office space 40%.
  • $213,434 in reserve for extra Title IX personnel.
  • $900,000 for staff increases, office space, survivor programs and trauma-based training in the Baylor University Counseling Center. This allocation, ordered by the Board of Regents months before the Pepper Hamilton presentation, has added 18 new positions, doubling the staff at the Baylor Counseling Center. It also has provided additional space to house counseling staff.
